Prunus virginiana 'Canada Red'

Canada Red Chokecherry is a small to medium-sized tree that is considered to be an important plant for wildlife. The foliage starts out green and then changes to an attractive burgundy-purple, providing striking color throughout the growing season. The white spring flowers are fragrant and reward pollinators with both nectar and pollen. By late summer the small black berries appear to the delight of songbirds, including bluebirds. Foliage color intensifies to reddish-purple in autumn. Grow in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Best flowering is in full sun.
