A 2005 Plant Select winner. A great selection, valued for its neat, well-branched, upright form. Covered with bright red flowers from early summer to fall. Hummingbirds can’t get enough of them. Easy to grow, this plant tolerates a wide range of soils as long as they are well-drained. One of the most, cold-hardy Salvia greggii cultivars. Beautiful in a perennial border.

The species is naturally found at elevations from 5000-9000 feet in the mountains of Mexico and Texas.

GROWING TIPS

 

Just a bit of extra water during dry spells encourages more flowers. It is disease and insect free, drought-tolerant, and once established, should not be fertilized. Needs good drainage, does well planted on a slope.
