Interesting Facts

There are eighteen different species of hummingbirds found in the deserts and mountains of southeast Arizona, more than any other state except Texas. While some of these species are quite common, others are only fleeting visitors from Mexico.

Allowed to grow naturally, plants take on an informal appearance. Controlling growth by trimming creates a more dense, hedgelike appearance, but usually results in fewer flowers and higher water use.  Prune lightly in fall after the flowering season has finished to maintain the plant’s form and for a more natural but controlled effect.
