DESCRIPTION
Long Beaked Sedge
Carex sprengelii

This sedge is a grass-like perennial sporting long bright green leaves that form a dense clump with a cascading fountain-like form. This non-invasive sedge is perfect for the perennial bed or the waters edge and its long beaked seeds are attractive and prized by birds and other landscape critters.

Interesting Facts

Seeds come in all shapes and sizes with Sprengel's Sedge having one of the most uncommon.  Its extremely long perigynia makes the seed head look hairy but it really attracts a crowd of birds!
