This beauty produces tall Lupine-like spikes of yellow flowers that bloom in July to the delight of native insects.  Deep green trifoliate foliage is thick and provides cover for birds while seeds from spent bloom provide food.  Easy to grow, pest free and perfect for bloom cutting and grouping.

Interesting Facts

Did you know that monarch butterflies are poisonous? They won’t harm humans, but the chemicals from the milkweed plant that they eat when they are in the larvae stage builds up inside of them and gives them a poisonous defense against predators like frogs, birds, mice and lizards.


Prefers average, dry to medium, well-drained soils in full sun. It has a long tap root so, it doesn't like to be moved.
