What are Keystone Plants?

Keystone Plants are the native plant superstars of the landscape.  They are the native plants that are the backbone of a region’s ecosystem hosting the most species and feeding the most caterpillars. They also feed and shelter the most bird species since caterpillars are vital to the lifecycle of birds. While all native plants are important and provide hosting and food for pollinators, Keystone Plants provide much more relative to other native species and are essential to keep the local ecosystem in balance and healthy.
