Andropogon gerardii is very tolerant to diverse conditions. However, it is often found in areas with full sun, and dry to average moist soils. It grows quickly in moist fertile soils, but it is more likely to bend and fall over. Clumps can be divided in early summer, use a sturdy shovel!
