Will grow in sun to light shade but flowers best in full sun. Prefers moist, well-drained soil but grows well in poor dry sites, too. Very cold tolerant. To keep a dense rounded habit, cut the entire plant back every two to three years. This type of renewal pruning should be done when the plant is dormant in late winter.
