Open dry hillsides and dry plains, west of the Mississippi.

Interesting Facts

The two-tailed swallowtail butterfly was designated the official state butterfly of Arizona in 2001. A large butterfly with a wingspan of 3-5", it is found only west of the Mississippi in North America and needs native plants like this one to thrive.
