Silver Gem Prostrate Blue Violet
Viola walteri 'Silver Gem'
Tiny, silver variegated foliage forms a cute little mound that is covered with delicate violet blooms from early spring and sporadically through the rest of the year. Easily identified by trailing stems and delicate lavender flowers. Plant trials have proven 'Silver Gem' to be exceptionally drought tolerant and happiest in part to full shade. Excellent for woodland gardens.

INTERESTING FACTS
Organically grown violets are edible and also make sumptuous garnishes. They can be mixed into a spring salad or used to decorate cakes and other sweets. Candied violets were a delicacy in the nineteenth century and are still popular in France.
GROWING TIPS
Very easy plant, performs wonderfully in gallons and quarts. Remove dead foliage/trailing stems as necessary.
